Battery cage chickens

An ever increasing global population is leading to an increased demand for cheaper meat and dairy products which in turn leads to increased intensification of animal production. To provide the meat, milk and eggs demanded by the global population, animals are often housed in the most deplorable conditions imaginable on ‘factory farms’, where even their most basic needs cannot be met.

Due to the large number of animals raised via intensive farming practices, the individual animal’s needs are often lost, with death and injury becoming an economic loss to be factored into the production costs.

As a result of the desire to keep profits high and cost low, animals farmed for meat, eggs and milk are exposed to some of the most barbaric treatments- including mutilations, such as castration without any pain-relief, de-beaking and tail docking.
